27.07.07: Welcome to my Blog!
Welcome to anCnoc BLOG international. Isn't it remarkable how whisky lovers from all around the world can say a virtual "slainté" together and share our love of malt whisky?
I am deeply honoured to be chosen by Knockdhu distillery as their ambassador for international Blogging. Like you, I have a real passion for whisky. So much so, that I am uplifting my Canadian roots to move to the land where the heart of John Barleycorn beats so proudly. This is a very exiting time for my wife and I. Eileen came to Canada from Scotland in 1998, for "one year," met me, and life has never been the same since. She introduced me to Scotland, its people, and of course its whisky. Over the past several years we have returned to Scotland many times, and after much deliberation, have decided to settle in Speyside.
This part of the country is especially alluring for whisky enthusiasts. There are distilleries around every bend, lovely scenery, friendly people and the best whisky on the planet.
As part of my prize as International Ambassador, we were invited to the distillery and given a personal tour by Gordon Bruce, the Distillery Manager. The distillery is located just a short drive north of Huntly near the small village of Knock. Approaching the distillery we could see the Black Hill standing out against the rolling landscape and knew that the distillery was at hand. The distillery is small by some standards, with one wash and one spirit still, but Gordon and the other 6 men of Knockdhu keep them fired up. Another rare feature of this distillery is that computers were nowhere to be found - whisky is being made at Knockdhu like it has been for the past 100 years. After the tour we sampled anCnoc new make spirit, including a peated version, and a variety of expressions up to the fabulous 1975 (30 year old). The 12 year old anCnoc is the best known around the world. I have to agree with whisky expert Michael Jackson that this whisky is brilliant!

Over the next few months I plan to post a variety of items on whisky. But in the meantime, have you tried anCnoc whisky? If so, what do you think? Do you remember your first dram of this fine whisky? Have you been to the distillery? Please send me your opinions and any stories you have about anCnoc whisky and perhaps we can share them with the rest of the world. Click here to email me.
Slainte!
