04.11.08: 11 Thailand Men

About 7pm on Monday, 15 September, 2008, I was called upon as a piper, not as an Ambassador for the promotion of anCnoc whisky. The occasion was the arrival of the eleven-man ThaiBev technical team from the BANGYIKHAN and RED BULL Distilleries, Thailand on a sight seeing, fact-finding mission. They stayed at The Castle Hotel, Huntly, Aberdeenshire, Scotland that night then visited our beloved Knockdhu Distillery the following day. They had already visited Balmenach Distillery and the Inverhouse head office in Airdrie, Scotland. Before their arrival at Huntly, they had also visited a couple of Malting plants, Cooperages and Grain Distilleries.
When they arrived by coach, they alighted and courteously did their required official greeting handshakes then could not wait to each have their photograph taken standing next to me dressed in my full regalia. I was trying to play my pipes and accommodate their photographic needs as well.
That night they enjoyed Scottish hospitality, the food and a few drammies too.(Liquid refreshment from a wee glass- anCnoc Whisky).

They visited the Knockdhu Distillery on the 16th and were most impressed with the production of such a lovely product. They were, “Fair chuffed”, (Highly delighted) to say the least.
The BANGYIKHAN Distillery mentioned above produces a lovely medium dark rum, a bottle of which I proudly possess.
